Lana, Site Manager: ?I could go on for days but if I have to pick one it's I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor ? I defy you to find me a woman that does not break into song when this comes on. ... Nicky, Site Co-Ordinator: ?So many to choose from, I'm kind of scared to admit out loud that I secretly love Rock Your Body by Justin Timberlake, but Time After Time is the one daggy song that I'll always turn up and sing along to.? ... A pop song about emotional abuse. Listen. ...
It was literally the worst I've ever heard a lead singer sing. He had obviously burnt himself out. When his voice cracked the guy who was standing beside me yelled ?JESUS!? Only the drunkest in the crowd didn't notice it. ..... There's no possible way that he would have been able to keep the song going without some form of straying from the vocals. Also, the megaphone bit, gives a hint at lip syncing. Usually when I see artists use megaphones the vocal levels have a shift ...

He claims to have played a demo tape for Judd Apatow, whose only response was "You can never let anyone hear this tape." Listen for yourselves. ...
Get really drunk first?…..That always makes me want to do karaoke!
Just do the best you can and practice a lot. Don’t be ashamed , have you heard what MOST people sound like?
Before you even walk close to a karoke at a party, practice at home. Choose a song that you know will be available on most karaokes. Learn the lyrics and sing as much as you can, anywhere you can. Don’t sing the day right before the party; save your voice, so make sure you practice weeks or days in advance. Whatever fits your schedule.
It’s better to go sharp than flat (stay “on top” of the note)
Hold the mic about an inch from your mouth and sing directly into the top of it (not over the top or into the side) – the KJ will adjust the volume accordingly. If you hold it too far away, he won’t be able to mix your sound with the music as well.
Learn how to project from your chest – not shout. You’ll be better able to control and fine tune your notes.
Don’t hesitate to question for advice from singers you liked!
I would suggest 2 other things, get your own Karaoke machine and the CDGs with the songs you want to sing and be SURE they have “with vocals” versions as well as the Karaoke version, this will let you HEAR and sign WITH the singer as the words are shown on the screen. And a FANTASTIC teaching tool is the American Idol Voice Coach DVD, which came out over a year ago, not sure where it’s available now, but do a goodle search, try ebay and other Karaoke sites, such as ExpressKaraoke.com etc. Excellent singing, and JOIN our San Diego Karaoke Lovers meetup group, you’ll get so much support and help and you won’t ever go un-cheered, no matter HOW you sing, we SUPPORT and encourage each other and go to various venues all over San Diego County.
